Meet our Psychology team

  • Laani Craven

    Senior Psychologist/General Manager

    Hi! I’m Laani, a Senior Psychologist and General Manager who works with school aged children and teens.

    I love to sing, swim, and eat good food with good friends. Across my career, I’ve developed a passion for working with kids and teens in the mental health space and with neurodiversity.

    My qualifications include:

    - Bachelor of Psychological Science

    - Master of Applied Psychology (Counselling) from the University of Queensland.

    - I have training and experience using the following programs:

    - Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

    - Interpersonal Psychotherapy

    - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (including Mindfulness)

    - Social Skills interventions

    - Parenting and behavioural interventions

    - Early Start Denver Model

  • Georgia Watson

    Clinical Psychologist

    My interests and hobbies include hanging out with my family, reading and listening to audiobooks, and playing board games. I am particularly interested in understanding how different parts of the brain work, and how that knowledge can help us to tame our busy brains! I enjoy working with kids who experience anxiety to work towards their goals, and with young people with neurodiversity.

    My qualifications include:

    - Bachelor of Behavioural Science

    - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) majoring in psychology

    - Master of Clinical Psychology

    I have training and experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, social skills interventions and parenting support and behavioural interventions.

  • Ming Zhu Liu

    Psychologist

    In my free time I love to play with my cats and make pottery on the wheel.
    I obtained my qualifications in Belgium, where I am originally from. I relocated to Australia with my partner in 2019.

    Bachelor of Science in Psychology

    Master of Science in Clinical Psychology

    I have a particular interest in working with children and adolescents who experience anxiety. My therapy is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, teaching my clients tools that help to challenge maladaptive thoughts, increasing psychological flexibility and resilience. I am currently completing a course on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

  • Ioana Abernethy

    Psychologist

    Kia ora! My name is Ioana - just like Moana but said with a ‘you’ instead of an ‘M’ at the start.

    I’m a psychologist from Aotearoa, New Zealand and recently moved to the Sunshine Coast and have been loving exploring all it has to offer! I have always enjoyed working with children and young people, which led me to train as a Child and Family Psychologist. My approach is strengths-based and neuro-affirming. I aim to provide individualised, evidence-based support that is collaborative, empowering, and meets the young person where they’re at. 

    Outside of work, I like spending time in nature, camping (minus the snakes and spiders), swimming, baking, playing any kind of game, and travelling.

  • Lucy Rhodes

    Speech Pathologist Lead

    I am passionate about working with people across the lifespan to achieve their communication goals!

    I completed my Bachelor of Speech Pathology at Australian Catholic University in Melbourne and have recently moved up to the Sunshine Coast and am excited for some warmer weather. I am a registered practitioner with Speech Pathology Australia.

     Outside of work I love bushwalking, camping and hosting dinner parties for my friends and family.

  • Tara Edmunds

    Speech Pathologist

    Hello! My name is Tara and I have been working as a Speechie for over 3O years in Australia and overseas!

    I grew up on the Sunshine Coast and graduated from the University of Queensland. I have had many interesting jobs in my career including the Flying Doctors, as a Nanny and a Kindy Teacher.

    I love working with children and their families and am always ready for a new challenge!

  • Aryana Kyrpan

    Speech Pathologist

    I love working with children and teens to help them achieve their speech and language goals. In my spare time, I love spending time with friends and family, keeping active and doing anything musical including performing with my band.

    I gained my Bachelors of Speech Pathology (honours) from the University of Queensland (UQ)

    After my studies, decided to move back home to the beautiful Sunshine Coast. I love all things speech and language and also have further training in the literacy space (Sounds-Write).

  • Bec Rickards

    Speech Pathologist

    Hey! My name is Bec, or maybe you’ll hear me say “Bic” with my kiwi accent…

    I’m a Speech Pathologist that crossed the ditch from New Zealand to Australia in 2024, having previously worked in a variety of Speechie settings in NZ. 

    I am passionate about supporting children in a way that is fun and engaging. I want to learn about your child’s interest and integrate it into my therapy. Supporting your family and school to better understand your child is integral to positive outcomes. 

    When I’m not at work, you’ll see me out surfing, hiking, biking or running – just anywhere outside exploring our beautiful coastline!

  • Bridgette Rabbidge

    Senior Occupational Therapist

    Bridgette graduated with a Masters of Occupational Therapy Studies from the University of Queensland in 2015 and has experience working with babies to 21 year olds in their homes, schools and at the clinic. Whatever challenges your child or teen might face, we will work with you to help your family feel supported to thrive.

    When not at the clinic, Bridgette loves to get in the ocean with her 3 young boys, eat all the mangoes and prawns she can devour and sleep as much as possible.

  • Mikayla Smith

    Occupational Therapist

    I studied a bachelor’s degree of occupational therapy (Honours) at the University of the Sunshine Coast and have lived on the Sunshine Coast my whole life. My passion for working with children blossomed at university when I discovered that I am truly a kid at heart and am driven by the idea that I can make a positive and lasting impact.

    My love for this profession encompasses so many areas that it is almost impossible to choose what I love most. However, I can confidently say that I enjoy the creativity that comes when working with children. I love creating meaningful connections with families and my kiddos and utilising everything that makes them unique to support them in reaching their full potential.

    Fun facts about me:

    When I am not at work, I spend most of my time engaging in various activities like reading books, grabbing a coffee with friends or baking (Or at least trying to bake). I enjoy trying new activities including golf and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and I love re-connecting with nature.

  • Yanina Lesser

    Play Therapist

    Hola, I’m Yanina, an Argentinian Therapist and qualified Associate Play Therapist.

    I love dancing, traveling, and getting to know different cultures, which is why I have lived in seven different countries.
    I have always been interested in working with children, so I have worked with families from different parts of South America, Europe, and now Australian families.
    I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the National University of Tucumán, Argentina.

    Practice Manager

    Hi I am Kimberely, I have over a decade of experience as a Practice Manager in the healthcare industry.

    I’m passionate about creating exceptional client experiences and leading teams that make a genuine difference in people’s lives. I thrive in an environment where care, connection, and quality outcomes matter.

    Outside of work, you’ll find me exploring the underwater world scuba diving, cycling scenic routes, climbing mountains, discovering new countries, or getting lost in a good book. I bring the same curiosity and sense of adventure to my work, always looking for new ways to grow, support others, and elevate the everyday.

  • Kayla Gilmore

    Medical Administrator

    Hi, my name is Kayla! I’m part of the admin team and will also be supporting the team as an Allied Health Assistant.

    I’ve recently moved to the Sunshine Coast after spending the past two years living in Bristol, UK.

    I’ve just completed my Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) at Queensland University of Technology and am continuing my studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast, with the goal of becoming a psychologist!

    Born in Trinidad, Sarrah brings a vibrant warmth and energy to our team. She moved to Australia 20 years ago and began her career in Sydney as a qualified nutritionist before making the Sunshine Coast her home. Drawn to the warm weather, friendly community, and relaxed coastal lifestyle, Sarrah hasn’t looked back since.

    Sarrah is deeply committed to delivering exceptional customer service, and you’ll experience this from the moment you walk through our doors. She’s often the first friendly face you’ll see at reception, welcoming everyone with her big, famous smile and genuine care.

    Outside of work, Sarrah loves immersing herself in nature—whether it’s spending time at the beach or heading out for a scenic hike. She also enjoys cooking up a storm in the kitchen and has a real love for spicy food, a delicious trait she proudly carries from her Caribbean upbringing.
